The chinese has a small problem. It should be 欢迎观临. The “来”isn't really needed.

No it didn't work.

I replied immediately to the first person's comment, but for some reason that reply was blocked by my own system :(
I've been using some good OCR software for Chinese, and hope to write a review soon. There's also a wikipedia article on OCR which lists many of the software packages, and which languages they say they support.

It appears it didn't work.

If you go to Google and look for his document... (http://www.google.com/#q=site%... you'll notice it's been indexed and there is a "View as HTML" option. If the OCR worked, the "View as HTML" option should bring up the OCR'd Chinese text of the document. It doesn't - it simply brings up two blank pages.

I am wondering if it might have worked if the document was scanned right-way up instead of turned 90 degrees.

Although I have an attached tablet, and can hand write characters, etc. I
don't normally need to do it. I normally use an "IME" (Input Method Editor)
for Chinese. I use the Google one. There is also one from Microsoft
(actually a couple), and another from Sogou, I believe. So, all I need to do
is type at "full speed", phonetically.

If I type a whole sentence, for example, I don't need to go back and select
individual characters. Occasionally, however, it's necessary to select the
correct character from the list of homonyms.

I'll try tomorrow.The "五颜六色" , the meal you make for me, is very nice. I make it every two or days for lunch or for supper since I came back from Harbin. Haha.

I just added two commenting options. First, I installed something called "Disqus" (sounds like discuss). Second, I integrated that into facebook, although I have no idea how to use it there, nor how to tell other people how to use it.

Sounds yummy! The pinon tree is the state tree of New Mexico. Our new property (aka the Santa Fe Harmony Center)is covered with old pinon trees. We just learned how to "harvest" the nuts (i.e., pick them up off the ground)... last year was a bumper crop and many of our nuts are still edible. I picked a tin-ful, washed, soaked and roasted them - you eat them like sunflower seeds. If I get ambitious, I'll shuck a bunch and try your recipe.

For me, this looks pretty bad in IE7, with a large amount of blank space above the "Ink" image. I suspect this is a problem with the Live Writer application, but it might also just be the type of image.
